Eclipse Dvd Release Date

Twilight fans have seen Eclipse at the movies, but now we want the Eclipse dvd!!

Whilst no official date has yet been made, we can certainly get a good idea by going by when the last two Twilight films were released.  The big question on the lips of Twilight Eclipse fans is ‘when will the Eclipse dvd release date be?’

Both the Twilight and New Moon Dvds were released 120 days after being released in the cinemas.  So we can presume that the Eclipse dvd release date will also be around 120 days later – approximately Saturday, 23rd or 30th October perhaps?  We shall keep you posted when we find out when we can pre order Eclipse dvd.

While we await the Eclipse DVD release date, we cannot escape wondering if it will manage to repeat the incredible success of the previous parts of the saga?  Twilight, the first part of the series, sold almost 10 million copies worldwide, 3 million of which on the opening day.  Total DVD earnings of Twilight grossed more than 180 million dollars.  New Moon, the second part of the Twilight Saga will probably be even more successful, judging by the first week of sales.   The DVD was released on March 20th and in the first weekend sold 4 million units, beating the Twilights 3.8 millions copies in the first two days.  Estimates say that New Moon will earn over 200 million from the DVD release.  Quite possibly the Eclipse Dvd release will beat that record.

When Stephenie Meyer first wrote the book Twilight, nobody could have guessed what huge success the series would be.  The books and later the movies became global phenomenon and won numerous awards. The way Meyer writes about love between a human girl and a vampire is particularly appealing to young adults and female readers, who were also the majority of the movie going audience for the first two movies.

While retaining the original love triangle story between Bella, Edward and Jacob,  the Eclipse Dvd release will also focus on action elements. The first two movies were primarily a love story and some fans complained that they appeal more to the female auditorium. In an effort to rectify this, Eclipse director David Slade included more action scenes, including the epic vampire vs. Werewolf battle.

According to Kellan Lutz, who plays Emmett Cullen in all three movies, Eclipse is an action movie for guys.  The big fight scene where Victoria’s newborn army fights against the Cullen coven and Jacob’s werewolf pack is one of the main selling points of the movie.

The story follows Bella’s struggle to preserve her relations with both Edward and Jacob.  Considering how they feel about her, this can prove to be not the easiest task.  She also has to protect herself against Victoria, who is looking for revenge for the death of her lover in Twilight.

She has been patiently building her strength and awaiting the right moment to strike.  Only an alliance of Edward and Jacob could have any hope in stopping her.

The Eclipse Dvd release will have a somewhat altered cast compared to earlier chapters of the saga.   Although the main roles remained the same, with Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner as Bella, Edward and Jacob, Eclipse villain, Victoria, is now played by Bryce Dallas Howard, who replaced Rachelle Lefevre.   As a reason for this change, Summit Entertainment claimed scheduling conflict.  The rest of the characters are pretty much the same.

The producers of the Twilight Saga announced that they have obtained the movie rights for the fourth book of the series, Breaking Dawn.  At the moment, it is still unclear when the shooting will begin, we only know that it will be some time in 2010, but the studio is firmly committed to adding another title to this popular franchise.
